3 Ways to Release Stress, Live More and Lose Weight:

What Stress Does to Your Body

Have you ever wondered what stress actually does to not only your body but your life as well?

Stress shows up in so many ways. It can make you gain weight, lose weight, have skin break outs and also cause deep depression. It can also make you close off from the world. Make you not want to do the things you want or allow you to live the life you are meant to. Stress can be the thing that holds you back from everything. Knowing how to release that stress can lead you to the life you are dreaming of.

3 Ways to Release Stress

Eat Right

Stress levels and a proper diet are closely related. When we’re overwhelmed, we often forget to eat well and resort to using sugary, fatty snack foods as a pick-me-up. Try to avoid sugary snacks and plan ahead. Fruits and vegetables are always good, and fish with high levels of omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to reduce the symptoms of stress.

Be Mindful

Most of the tips suggested provide immediate relief, but there are also many lifestyle changes that can be more effective in the long run. The concept of “mindfulness” is a large part of meditative and somatic approaches to mental health, and has become popular in modern psychotherapy. From yoga and tai chi to meditation and Pilates, these systems of mindfulness incorporate physical and mental exercises that prevent stress from becoming a problem. Try joining a class.

Exercise

Exercise doesn’t necessarily mean power lifting at the gym or training for a marathon. A short walk around the office or simply standing up to stretch during a break at work can offer immediate relief in a stressful situation. Getting your blood moving releases endorphins and can improve your mood almost instantaneously.

3 Ways to Live More

Do Things You Love

Let’s be real, live gets crazy busy and takes a lot of our energy just to get through the day. That takes away from doing the things that we love. So why not take the time to start doing some of those things that you have been missing out on. Try and do something every day that you love that you never get to do. It doesn’t have to be anything huge or overly extreme but even if it’s just reading for 30 minutes. Doing more things that you love will decrease your stress levels and will make you happier and allow you to slowly take back the life that you can start to live again!

Participate Instead of Watching

Do you ever see a class going on or an event that you would love to go to or try out but you just don’t have the time or the courage? Well here is a way to change that, JOIN IN ON THE FUN! Being scared is a very natural emotion to have when trying something new but if you never try it then you could be missing out on something that you love and have a passion for. Don’t let fear overtake your life. Make the time to try something new and stop watching from the sidelines. Your time is now. Don’t pass it up.

Define Yourself

When I say define yourself, I don’t mean label yourself or subject yourself to one area. For example being a mother does not define you as a just a caretaker or a mother. Defining yourself means figure out everything that applies to you. Even if you are not good at the things you consider define you but they make you who you are. If you love to paint but aren’t good at it, you are still a painter. If you love to run but are slow, you are still a runner. Don’t limit to yourself to just the everyday things that people see. When you define yourself you will open up doors you didn’t even know were there and it will allow you to take more chances and have more opportunities. Get out your pen and paper and start the never-ending list!

3 Ways to Shed Weight

Do a Purge

Clean out that pantry and fridge! Letting go off all that fat, junky and salty foods that tempt you will give you a step in the right direction for those unwanted pounds to disappear. If the temptations are not there then the cravings slowly start to disappear and you can start to make healthier and better choices.

Nix Nighttime Eating

When you stop the late night eating your body has time to play catch up with the food that you already consumed during the day. Late night eating allows your body to hold on to that food and then forms those extra pounds. Try to stop eating after 6:30pm. You will notice a difference in no time!

Pile on the Veggies

Loading up on vegetables will not only improve your health but it will help you lose weight. Vegetables are loaded with vitamins and antioxidants that allow your body to function properly and will turn that extra weight into thin air!

All of these tips and tricks will help you live the life you are meant to live, lose the extra pounds, and release and let go of the stress that holds you back!
You are in control. Take back what is yours and make your life all you know that it can be!
